LYNCHBURG - The 2022 Conference USA Swimming & Diving Championships are officially underway, as day one of the three day event is complete.

Seven-time defending league champion FIU holds the top spot following Day 1 of competition with a score of 88. Rice sits in second place with 76 points, while Marshall owns the third place spot with 68. Florida Atlantic and North Texas are knotted at 66 points a piece in fourth place, followed by Old Dominion with 64.
 
FIU took first place in both of the events that were contested on Wednesday at the Liberty Natatorium. 
 
The Panthers set a new program and meet record in the 200-yd Medley Relay with a time of 1:37.79. Michaela Trnkova, Sara Gyertyannfy, Julia Miranda and Elinah Phillip combined for the victory. Rice finished second, followed by Marshall.

FIU also took gold in the final event of the evening, the 800-yd Freestyle Relay, with a time of 7:11.78. The Panther squad consitsted athletes Stephanie Hussey, Christie Chue, Lamija Medosevic and Julia Miranda.

The 2022 C-USA Swimming and Diving Championships will resume Thursday, February 24, with prelims starting at 10:30 a.m. ET. Day two finals will begin at 6 p.m. ET streamed live for free on CUSA.tv.
