CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico – The 10th-ranked Tennessee men's golf team completed its second round at the Cabo Collegiate Monday and sit in seventh place as a team entering the tournament's final round.
The Vols shot 6-under as a team during round two, bringing their two-round total to 11-under. Tennessee is just four strokes outside of achieving its fourth consecutive top-four team finish.
After shooting Tennessee's worst round on Sunday, redshirt senior
Tyler Johnson shot the Vols' best round on Monday with a 4-under 67. Johnson shot six birdies during round two compared to just two during round one. Johnson is currently 3-under for the tournament and tied for 20th place, just one stroke behind Tennessee's leader through two rounds—
Bryce Lewis.
Lewis shot his second consecutive round of 2-under on Monday to bring his tournament score to 4-under. Tied for 17th place entering round three, Lewis is on pace to record his second straight top-20 finish to start the spring.
Also shooting a second consecutive round of par or better was
Jake Hall, who carded a 1-under on Monday after shooting even par on Sunday. Hall is tied for 34th place entering Tuesday and extended his team-leading total of rounds par or better to 14.
After having also shot even par during round one,
Spencer Cross carded a 1-over during round two, giving Tennessee its final counting round. Cross is tied for 41st place heading into round three.
Hunter Wolcott carded Tennessee's best round of the day during round one with a 3-under 68, but shot 9-over on Monday. Wolcott is tied for 63rd place.
