ITF: 2022 Indoor Performers of the Meet

DALLAS – Following several stellar performances at the 2022 Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Championships held in Birmingham on February 19-20, five student-athletes from Charlotte, Middle Tennessee, Rice and Southern Miss were voted Performers of the Meet.
 
For the second straight year, MTSU’s Esther Isa earned the Female Field Performer of the Meet, while Charlotte’s Nick Scudder repeated as the Male Track Performer of the Meet.  Additionally, Southern Miss’ Corvell Todd and Rice’s Grant Levesque shared the Male Field Performer of the Meet award while Middle Tennessee’s Eusila Chepkemei was named the Female Track Performer of the Meet.

All five individual awards were voted on by the league’s head coaches and solely take into account the student-athlete’s performances at the 2022 championships.
 
Male Track Performer of the Meet – Nick Scudder, Charlotte, So., Raleigh, N.C.
Scudder repeated as the Track Performer of the meet after taking home championship titles in both the 5,000 meters (13:57:03) and the 3,000 meters (8:00.79). Scudder repeated as the champion in both events and set the C-USA meet record in the 3,000 meters.
 
Male Field Co-Performer of the Meet – Corvell Todd, Southern Miss, Jr., Byhalia, Miss.
Todd won the high jump for the second-straight year with a C-USA leading clearance of 2.23m (7-3.75). The height is the fourth-highest clearance in the NCAA this season and Todd earned a spot in the NCAA Indoor National Championships with the jump.
 
Male Field Co-Performer of the Meet – Grant Levesque, Rice, Fr., El Paso, Texas
Levesque, a freshman, won the Heptathlon title with 5,626 points after winning the 60m hurdles (8.19) and the pole vault (5.09m). His clearance in the pole vault set the C-USA heptathlon meet record and bettered his second-place finish in the pole vault on the day prior when he reached 5.04m (16-6.50). His point total ranks 26th in the nation.
 
Female Track Performer of the Meet – Eusila Chepkemei, Middle Tennessee, GR, Kapsabet, Kenya
Chepkemei became the first C-USA athlete to win the Mile, 800m and 3,000m in the same meet in conference championship history. The graduate student ran a 2:08.39 in the 800m, a 4:50.13 in the mile and a 9:27.25 in the 3,000m. She was also a member of the championship winning-distance medley relay, running the final leg in 4:42.89. She was named the high point scorer of the meet for the Blue Raiders.
 
Female Field Performer of the Meet – Esther Isa, Middle Tennessee, Sr., Lagos, Nigeria
Isa won the triple jump for the second-straight year with her personal-best leap of 13.48m (44-2.75). She also finished second in the high jump, clearing 1.78m (5-10).  Her triple jump mark currently ranks 12th nationally, earning her a spot at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
