Allen, Wayne Named First Team All-Conference USA

Monarchs have multiple all-conference first teamers for the first time since 2004

DALLAS – Iggy Allen and Ajah Wayne of the Old Dominion women's basketball team were voted First Team All-Conference USA, the conference announced on Monday afternoon. It marks the first time that multiple Monarchs have featured on the All-C-USA First Team since ODU joined the conference for the 2013-14 season.

Old Dominion had not landed multiple players on an all-conference first team since 2004, when Monique Coker and Max Nhassengo were named First Team All-CAA.

Iggy Allen | 5-11 | Gr. | G | Pompano Beach, Fla.
Allen played all 30 regular season games for ODU and led the team in scoring (14.8 points per game) and rebounding (7.5). Allen has hit the 20-point threshold eight times this season, including a season-best 29 at UAB on Feb. 13. In that game, the graduate guard sank a career-high six 3-pointers. She has a team-high 47 treys on the season.

Allen has reached double figures in points in 22 games this season and has had at least a share of the team high in points 15 times. Despite being a guard, the native of Pompano Beach, Florida has been the Monarchs' leading rebounder 16 times, including a pair of 15-rebound games, and has a team-best seven double-doubles – tied for the third-most in the conference.

At the conference level, Allen ranks seventh in scoring and sixth in rebounding. She is also top-15 in field goal percentage (.362, ninth), free throw percentage (.740, 13th) and steals per game (1.60, 15th).

Allen receives First Team All-C-USA honors for the second straight season. She was C-USA Newcomer of the Year at Florida Atlantic a year ago and a preseason all-conference selection prior to the start of the season.

Ajah Wayne | 5-10 | Sr. | G/F | Birmingham, Ala.
The heart and soul of the Monarchs, Wayne ranked second on the team in scoring (13.1) and rebounding (5.8) while shooting 41.6 percent from the field. She scored in double figures 19 times this season, including four 20-point outings, and was ODU's leading scorer 11 times. She has also led Old Dominion in rebounds four times.

Wayne netted a season-best 24 points in a win at William & Mary, going 7-of-13 from the floor with six rebounds. She had a 13-point, 11-rebound double-double with two assists, two steals and two blocks in a win at Temple.

The native of Birmingham, Alabama ranks 12th in C-USA in scoring, 17th in rebounding and 15th in free throw percentage (.709). Wayne is also seventh in the conference in free throw makes and attempts and is 49th among all active Division I players with 485 free throw attempts.

Wayne earns first team honors for the first time in her career. A Preseason All-Conference USA selection this season, she was named second team all-conference as a sophomore in 2020 and was an all-freshman honoree in 2019.

C-USA East Division champion Charlotte took home three of the six major postseason honors. Octavia Jett-Wilson was named Player of the Year, KeKe McKinney was tabbed the Defensive Player of the Year, and Cara Consuegra was honored as the Coach of the Year.

WKU's Mya Meredith was the Freshman of the Year, Domonique Davis of Southern Miss was the Newcomer of the Year, and Middle Tennessee's Kseniya Malashka was the Sixth Player of the Year.

The No. 3 seed out of the East, the Monarchs face either No. 6 UTEP or No. 7 UTSA in the second round of the C-USA Tournament on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. ET. The game is streaming live on ESPN+ with the radio broadcast on ESPN Radio 94.1 FM. With a win on Wednesday, ODU will advance to play No. 2-seeded North Texas in the quarterfinals on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. ET.
