Ole Miss women's basketball earns bid to 2022 NCAA Tournament, first since 2007

OXFORD — For the first time in 15 years, Ole Miss women's basketball has earned a place in the NCAA Tournament.

The Rebels (23-8) received a No. 7 seed in the Wichita Regional of the 2022 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament. Ole Miss' first-round matchup will be against No. 10 seed South Dakota (27-5) on Friday in Waco, Texas, home of Baylor.

South Dakota won the Summit League Tournament for an  automatic berth.  

Led by fourth-year coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin and projected top-five WNBA Draft pick Shakira Austin, the Rebels earned a March Madness bid on the back of thee Top-25 wins and the fourth-best SEC record of any team.

This will be the Rebels' 18th appearance in the tournament all-time and the first under McPhee-McCuin. McPhee-McCuin previously led Jacksonville to the tournament in 2016.

The Rebels advanced to the Elite Eight in 2007, the furthest Ole Miss has ever made it into the tournament. Last season, Ole Miss advanced to the finals of the WNIT before losing to Rice.
