MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – No. 23 Middle Tennessee men's tennis (18-3, 1-0) complete a 7-0 sweep of Tennessee Tech (1-8) and Bellarmine (4-7) on Sunday afternoon inside the Adams Tennis Complex.
 
With the wins, the Blue Raiders move to 12-straight wins on the season and are 11-1 inside the ATC. Over the past five seasons, MT has a 55-7 record at home including the nations leading 34-match home win streak that was broken earlier this season.
 
In doubles competition against Tennessee Tech, the Golden Eagles gave the Blue Raiders all they could handle. Evzen Holis (cousin of Stepan) and Andre Redeia took down No. 47 Francisco Rocha and Oskar Brostrom Poulsen at 6-2. However, Middle Tennessee would prevail in doubles, claiming court Nos. 2 and 3 after TTU gave a valiant effort.
 
No. 115 Stijn Slump was the first Raider to finish in singles, he won at 6-2, retired after his opponent Holis stopped the match due to a lingering ankle injury.
 
The latter half of the MT singles lineup would clinch the win for MT. No. 101 Chris Edge, Brostrom Poulsen, No. 69 Rocha, and Pavel Motl all won in straight sets to put the Blue Raiders at five points needed to win the match.
 
Stepan Holis ended the match against the Golden Eagles taking down his opponent in a lopsided tiebreak set at 6-2, 3-6, 10-3 to give MT its eighth sweep of the season.
 
One hour later, Middle Tennessee welcomed Bellarmine to the Adams Tennis Complex for the first time ever with 7-0 sweep. MT completed its ninth sweep of the season in the effort.
 
MT featured John Chin, Lucas Olivier, and Mattia Bernardi in the contest against the Knights. All three freshman would compete in both doubles and singles play. MT would clinch the doubles point at 6-0 on both court Nos. 2 and 3.
 
In singles competition, MT would end the match winning on five of six singles courts in straight sets, Olivier won in the tiebreak set at 1-0 (12-10) to close the contest.
 
Next Up
The Blue Raiders will have five days off competition before heading to the Lone Star State to take on #39 SMU and Conference USA foe Rice next weekend. MT's next home match will be on Friday, March 25 at 5:00 p.m. against the #33 Texas Tech Red Raiders. Five of the last seven regular season opponents remaining on the schedule are ranked in the ITA Top 75 programs.
