Tennis to Play VCU at Home

DENTON - Mean Green Tennis looks to improve on their 8-5 record this season with a home match against VCU. The match will take place at Waranch Tennis Complex on Saturday, March 19th beginning at 11 a.m. CT.
UNT is coming off a loss to Rice at home last weekend. Doubles duo Lucie Devier and Maria Ponomareva earned an incredible victory over a ranked Rice pair to clinch the doubles point for the Mean Green. Devier also captured one of two points against Charlotte on Friday after a third set tiebreaker.
"What a great opportunity to play one more ranked opponent at home," head coach Sujay Lama said. "Securing the doubles point versus Rice was huge confidence boost for us. We want to take that confidence into our match versus VCU. If we keep competing and battling like we have we know we'll put ourselves in a position to be successful."
No. 57 ranked VCU is currently 11-3 on the season and is coming off a 5-2 loss at FAU last weekend. The Rams are led by No. 62 Paola Exposito Diaz-Delgado who is 16-5 this season. She and doubles partner Laura Garcia Astudillo are also ranked No. 48 in doubles play being undefeated 9-0 this season.
