Tulane Women’s Tennis Drops Road Match to No.47 Rice

HOUSTON – The Tulane University women's tennis fell on the road to No. 47 Rice 4-0 on Sunday. With the loss, the Green Wave drops to 7-6 overall on the season and 1-4 in road matches this year.

Tulane got off to a slow start in doubles play and was unable to recover as the Owls took the doubles point. The Green Wave dropped matches on court one and two in doubles action allowing Rice to take the early advantage.

The momentum remained on the side of the Owls in singles action with the Wave dropping the first set on all six courts. Lahari Yelamanchili battled back to force a third set on court one, but that would not be enough to swing the energy to the Green Wave as Tulane dropped the second set courts four, three and five in that order to lose the match by a 4-0 final to Rice.

Up next, the Green Wave will return to New Orleans for a doubleheader against Nicholls and New Orleans on Wednesday, March 23. The match between Tulane and the Colonels is set for 11 a.m. CT while the match against the Privateers will start at 3 p.m. CT.
