UTSA Invitational Day Two Concludes with Five First-Place Finishes

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Kansas State track and field team rounded out the UTSA Invitational on Saturday (March 19) with five first-place finishes and multiple top-10 finishes.
 
"The team came into this meet training with pretty heavy loads, so given that we had some nice performances," stated Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Cliff Rovelto. "The next few weeks we need to continue to work hard. Our emphasis is on the meets at the end of the season."
 
Leading the way for the Wildcats and tying for first place in the men's high jump was fifth-year senior Kyle Alcine. Both Alcine and Ese Amata from Rice cleared a mark of 2.03m/6-8.
 
With the third-highest height in outdoor program history, senior transfer Tommi Hintnaus reached a height of 4.00m/13-1.50, placing first in the women's pole vault. Right behind Hintnaus in second place was sophomore Reagan Hukill with a mark of 3.85m/12-7.50, a new personal-best.
 
It was back-to-back-to-back for K-State in the women's 800-meter run. Leading the pack was fifth-year senior Macy Heinz in first (2:11.16) followed by junior Sydney Burton in second (2:11.23) and senior Alex Ferguson in third (2:12.25).
 
The women's 4x400-meter relay squad, comprised of junior O'Shalia Johnson, junior Shalysa Wray, Ferguson and fifth-year senior Wurrie Njadoe, was crowned the winner with a time of 3:37.68.
 
Sophomore Kyle Gale, freshman Antonio Hanson, junior Tim Lambert Jr. and junior Sean Wilson made up the men's 4x400-meter A team. The relay team ran a time of 3:08.96 and finished the event in first place. Shortly following in fourth place was the B team comprised of junior Donovan Turner, freshman Kavian Kerr, fifth-year senior Travis Hodge and senior Matas Adamonis with a time of 3:19.18.
 
Burton also competed in the women's 1,500-meter run and finished the race in second place with a time of 4:34.13.
 
Competing in the men's 1,500-mter run was fifth-year senior Noah Stevenson. He ran a time of 4:06.08 and was the runner-up.
 
In the men's triple jump, junior Devon Richardson jumped to a length of 15.38m/50-5.50m, tying his personal-best and finishing the event in second place.
 
Hodge clocked in a time of 1:51.67 in the men's 800-meter run and came in second place. Junior Kyle Johnston was less than two seconds behind in third place (1:53.35) and Stevenson rounded out the Wildcats in fifth (1:56.63).
 
Third place went to sophomore Jesse Pinkley in the men's pole vault with a height of 4.75m/15-7.
 
 
 
 
 
Sophomore Emily Fuhr competed in the women's discus throw. The Shawnee, Kansas native threw a mark of 43.86m/143-10 and concluded the event in fourth place.
 
Fourth place in the men's 110-meter hurdles went to Turner with a time of 14.76, while Adamonis clocked in at 16.09 with a 13th place finish.
 
Adamonis also competed in the men's discus throw claimed eighth place with a heave of 42.93m/140-10.
 
It was freshman Kamyren Garrett, who represented K-State in the men's long jump. Garrett was able to launch himself to a mark of 6.51m/21-4.25 and rounded out the long jump in sixth.
 
Both Wildcats in the women's 100-meter hurdles ran personal-bests. Junior Urte Bacianskaite record a time of 15.26 (10th) and freshman Madelyn McCabe finished in 15.27 (11th).
 
Running a time of 25.45 in the women's 200-meter dash was freshman Velecia Williams and earned 10th place overall.
