Final Round Canceled For Men's Golf in Houston

HUMBLE, Texas - The North Texas men's golf team battled brutal weather conditions, including wind gusts up to 35 mph and on-and-off rain, but managed to put together two solid rounds on the first day of the All-American Intercollegiate, but four inches of rain fell overnight Monday and Tuesday's final round was canceled.
The Mean Green finish at 10-over par through two rounds after their 292-294, led by sophomore Vicente Marzilio, who tied for eighth on the individual leaderboard at even-par for the tournament after his 3-under 69 in the second of two rounds on Monday when he birdied five of eight holes at one point.
Fifth-year Viktor Forslund tied for 18th at 3-over after his 72-75, and senior Lenny Bergsson and sophomores Diego Prone and Tucker Allen tied for 29th at 5-over par. The Mean Green finished behind No. 33 Florida State and beat No. 46 Baylor by 17 shots.
"It was a great tournament for the team this week in 30 mph winds and rain," UNT head coach Brad Stracke said. "All the guys contributed and we got some much needed wins. We will have a few days before we travel to The Hayt and mix it up again with highly ranked opponents."
The Mean Green return to action March 27-28, at The Hayt in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
