The Cougars (16-8), winners in five of their last six, took 2 of 3 from Western Carolina over the weekend. Houston batted .313 with 30 hits and 22 runs while its pitching staff posted a 2.67 ERA and limited the Catamounts to a .156 average (7-for-45) with runners.

NEED TO KNOW
Houston is a perfect 6-0 during the midweek, outscoring opponents, 43-21, with wins at McNeese (Feb. 22), vs. Lamar (March 1), at Rice (March 8), vs. Southern (March 9), at Texas A&M (March 15) and at Sam Houston (March 22).

Houston and Prairie View are meeting for the 14th time and first since 2018. The Cougars lead the all-time series, 13-0, with 12 of the 13 matchups at home. The teams were scheduled to meet a season ago before positive COVID-19 cases and contact tracing within the Panthers' program canceled the two-game set.
