HOUSTON – New Orleans rallied for five runs in the top of the eighth inning after scoring three each in the sixth and seventh for a 14-10 victory over HBU to take two-of-three in the Southland Conference baseball series Sunday afternoon at Husky Field.
Senior leftfielder Jake Miller went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run, while junior rightfielder Logan Letney was 3-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and two runs for the Huskies (9-19, 3-3 SLC). Sophomore second baseman Sebastian Trinidad, junior first baseman Brennen Bales, sophomore designated hitter Parker Edwards and junior shortstop Diego Davila each had two hits.
Jordan Powell (0-1) took the loss, allowing four runs in one-third of an inning. HBU used eight pitchers and totaled 10 walks and four hit by pitches.
Issac Williams went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs and scored three times, while Pearce Howard was 2-for-6 with three RBIs and a run for the Privateers (16-10, 3-3). Amani Larry went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and scored twice and Tyler Bischke and Kasten Furr also scored twice.
Kyle Khachadourian (2-1) picked up the win, allowing one run on two hits with three strikeouts and a walk in two innings, while Jacob Mead tossed two shutout innings to finish it off.
The Huskies return to action when they play Rice Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Reckling Park.
