2-Dollar Tuesday features $2 tickets at box office

HOUSTON – Houston Baseball opens an eight-game homestand when it welcomes UTRGV at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday to Sanders Field at Schroeder Park. As part of 2-Dollar Tuesday, fans can purchase $2 tickets at the box office and take advantage of $2 Frito pies.
 
Houston (21-11) is looking to bounce back after dropping 2 of 3 at Cincinnati over the weekend. The Cougars are 15-4 at home, batting .311 alongside a 3.84 ERA.
 
UTRGV (17-14) is also seeking to rebound following a series loss against Stephen F. Austin. The Vaqueros rank second in the Western Athletic Conference in ERA (4.84) and are third in batting average (.293).

NEED TO KNOW
Houston and UTRGV have met 51 times with the Cougars leading the all-time series 28-22-1. Tuesday marks the third matchup between the two programs this season with Houston taking the first two matchups, 16-10 and 3-1 as part of doubleheader action on Feb. 27.
 
Houston is a perfect 8-0 during the midweek, outscoring opponents, 64-28, including an 8-6 victory against Sam Houston last Tuesday to secure the Sanders Cup trophy, awarded to the program that wins the series since 2017.
 
Houston is 13-4 when leading after six innings, 15-2 when scoring six-plus runs, 6-9 when scoring 5-or-fewer runs and 12-4 when playing error-free baseball. The Cougars have outscored opponents 124-80 in the fifth inning or later.
 
UP NEXT
Houston continues American Athletic Conference play when it hosts Tulane for a three-game set beginning at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Friday's middle game is slated for 6:30 p.m. and Saturday's finale begins at 1 p.m.
 
The series will serve as Alumni Weekend presented by Ford – the Official Truck and SUV of Houston Athletics. Cougar alumni are welcomed back. Thursday will be International Student Night. On Saturday, Foam Hammers sponsored by the UH Alumni Association will be given away while kids can participate in a postgame Easter Egg Hunt. Ford will be giving away "crazy" red and white hair all weekend.
 
Friday is "713 Night" at the ballpark where fans can buy $7 tickets at the box office and take advantage of $7.13 Tex-Mex Nachos at the concession stand. A Houston win on Saturday means fans in attendance walk away with a buy one, get one free box combo offer courtesy of Raising Cane's.
