UNT Wraps Up Play At Conference USA Championship

TEXARKANA, Ark. - The UNT men's golf team finished up play at the Conference USA Championship on Wednesday at Texarkana Country Club and finished the event at 17-over par in eighth place, while sophomores Vicente Marzilio and Diego Prone tied for 13th at 1-over par.
Marzilio, the defending conference champion, had his best round of the tournament with a 2-under 70 to move into a tie with his teammate and countryman Prone, who joined senior Lenny Bergsson and fifth-year Viktor Forslund with a 3-over 75.
"I was really confident we would make the match play this year the way we have played this spring," UNT head coach Brad Stracke said. "We have a great bunch coming back and coming in."
The end of the event marks the end of the season for the Mean Green and the end of the collegiate careers of Forslund and Sean Wilcox, who transferred from Tennessee a year ago. Stracke said he will miss the mark each has left on his program.
"I appreciate what Viktor Forslund and Sean Wilcox did for the program," Stracke said. "They will be missed. I know we will be very competitive, not only in conference play but during the whole year in 2022-2023."
