Energy Secretary Granholm Struggles With EV Charger: “How Does This Work? Look Amazing!”

Energy Secretary Granholm Struggles With EV Charger: “How Does This Work? Look Amazing!”

Granholm to face grilling on Biden energy policies.

A few days ago, researchers at Rice University’s Baker Institute released a report warning of the human and economic costs of moving too rapidly to a desired “energy transition” from fossil fuels to renewables and electric vehicles.

The study, authored by Gabe Collins, Baker Botts Fellow in Energy and Environmental Regulatory Affairs at the Baker Institute, and Michelle Michot Foss, fellow in energy, minerals and materials, warns that a premature transition would result in consumers across the globe feeling “energy price pain” on even basic necessities such as food.

The study notes that past energy transitions, such as from wood to coal and from coal to oil, took decades to come to fruition and involved moves from less energy-dense sources to more energy-dense fuels. That is not the case with the current energy transition, which proposes a rapid move from high-density to low-density energy sources.

Given that and other realities, the authors warn that the negative human and economic impacts from government and investor efforts to force the transition too rapidly “risks destabilizing a global energy-food-water-human well-being nexus that, sufficiently perturbed, would likely delay energy transition efforts for decades.”

Europe is currently experiencing a winter energy crisis stemming directly from efforts by governments and investors there to prematurely force a shift from coal, natural gas, and nuclear in power generation to wind and other renewable energy sources, and we now see many of the higher costs and human impacts predicted in this study playing out in real-time.

Clearly, not everyone is ready for green energy and electric cars. Biden Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm should be numbered among those individuals. She recently struggled with a charger at one of the charging stations that the Biden administration is touting as a solution to the gas price crisis.

I suspect that this video will not persuade people struggling to finance a tank of gas to commit to purchasing a car that has a starting price of $27,400.

It also won’t stop Republicans grilling her about Biden’s policies that have led to exploding fuel prices.

Department of Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm will appear before a congressional panel Thursday, and GOP members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee will grill her on the administration’s actions that they say have contributed to record-high prices at the pump and weakened America’s energy security.

Ms. Granholm will make the administration’s case for moving away from reliance on fossil fuels to combat climate change, according to her prepared remarks.

Chief among Republicans’ security concerns is the country’s reliance on Russian uranium used to power nuclear plants, which account for roughly 20% of U.S. electricity. Republicans say that threatens America’s nuclear energy security and has been exposed by Russia’s unprovoked war against Ukraine.

The U.S. relies on Russia and two of its closest allies — Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan — for nearly half of its uranium, according to 2020 data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

Republicans want Ms. Granholm to prioritize counteracting the perceived threats to the nation’s nuclear energy security, including by increasing domestic uranium production and enrichment. That request was laid out by GOP lawmakers in a letter sent Wednesday to the energy secretary, which was first provided to The Washington Times.

There is very robust competition for who will be known as the most incompetent official in the Biden administration. Granholm certainly has fueled her case with her policies and this latest photo-op.

Her struggles with the charge are a pitch-perfect representation of how Team Biden is handling America’s energy problems.

Even Granholm’s advisors underestimated her ineptitude.

You have to plug it into a wind turbine, then wait for the winds to blow within range. Into a photovoltaic panel, then wait for the sun to shine. If impatient, plug it into a coal power plant, natural gas combined cycle, perhaps nuclear, but still wait for the battery to charge eventually. Alternatively, skip the middle man, and go directly to the hydrocarbon source or another reliable, perhaps organic.

Funny you said that…I stop the Democrats’ arguments defending their so-called climate change by telling them that “Mother Nature produced the oil” or “God produced the oil” so why are you fighting against Mother Nature?

The argument stopped there as they have no answer….

She was looking for the dilithium crystals in the flux capacitor.

Wow, the communist is SO stupid she can’t even figure out how to plug into a f*cking receptacle…

Communist apparatchiks don’t even drive their own cars. Do you imagine Joe Biden even knows what side of the presidential limo you can find the gas cap?

When not pretending to being one of the people for a photo op Granholm leaves such tasks to her chauffeur.

Reminds me of Bush Sr’s amazement at supermarket scanners.

Ask George Bush. He’ll show you how to scan a box of Cocoa Puffs with it.

Here is where I usually made a snarky suggestion that no “progress or safety improvement” envisioned by the federal government be imposed upon the people until elected representatives and unelected bureaucrats be forced to live with it personally for ten years. That would stop the bullshit about electric cars, high-capacity magazines, “lock up your self-defense” laws, and the like. However, I know what would happen: they’d just stop screwing with laws like that and start making “progress and safety improvements” concerning easier insider trading, dark money, publisher advances, and tax deductions and credits.

The Republicans need to ask her about the disposal of used fuel cells and aging solar panels as well as the rising prices of future replacement fuel cells.

Green energy is switching the Oil Supply Chain to 12 critical mineral Supply Chains going through 60 countries. Half of them go through Russia.

We will need an Order of Magnitude more Copper, Zinc, Cobalt, Chromium, Graphite, Molybdenum, Rare Earths, silicon and Lithium.

Where in the Wide, Wide, World of Sports is all that metal coming from? Are we going to employ 10 times more child miners in Africa?

CommoChief in reply to MattMusson. | April 28, 2022 at 5:47 pm

    Transfer them from diamond mining?

    lurker9876 in reply to MattMusson. | April 29, 2022 at 9:26 am

Ask her why she supports the mining of the rare elements destroying the planet while defending her climate change agenda. After all, wasn’t her defense including the “protection” of the planet?

2smartforlibs | April 28, 2022 at 4:13 pm

Bush 41 was the butt of jokes because he didn’t understand scanners. She will be held up as prophetic.

    Arminius in reply to 2smartforlibs. | April 28, 2022 at 8:30 pm

Actually Bush1 knew what a scanner was. Scanners had been around for 20 years.

And scanner technology was constantly improving. He was being shown a new type of scanner that could do things like read the price from barcodes that were smudged, torn, or missing parts of the barcode. He wasn’t amazed. In fact, just about no event a President gets involved in is unscripted. But his reaction was over acted.

If you’ve ever been a parent or aunt or uncle and had to pretend that whatever child in your life who made a finger painting of you was the most astounding piece of art since the Mona Lisa will know what the President of the United States felt obligated to do.

American Human | April 28, 2022 at 4:16 pm

That video is proof that even an idiot can plug in an electric car.

Arminius in reply to American Human. | April 28, 2022 at 9:18 pm

Yes, but the historical record shows that leftists have no clue as how to get from point A to point B.

    1. Decide petroleum is evil.
    2. Stop drilling for oil.
    3. ???
    4. Magical Unicorn crap drops out of the sky.
    5. We’re all rich and have unlimited energy!

      lurker9876 in reply to Arminius. | April 29, 2022 at 9:27 am

Ask her why she does not consider Big Pharma as evil as petroleum.

        Martin in reply to lurker9876. | April 29, 2022 at 10:01 am

She did believe that last week.
This week she believes you must be required to get a shot developed in a short timeframe with no long term testing for COVID or you must not be allowed to engage in commerce of any kind.
Next week who knows what she will believe. The new DHS Department of Truth has not released required beliefs for next week. yet.

Yes, but will there be an electricity flowing??

Those are the elites. They are so much smarter than us. (Sarcasm ending).

The Biden administration is trying to raise fuel prices so that people will be forced to switch over to electric cars. But we have neither enough base load electricity nor enough distribution capacity to charge all those electric cars.

But something nobody seems to address is the fact that fuel costs are one of the largest (and often the largest) costs in farming.
Are electric tractors, tillers, sprayers, and combines really even possible?
All of these require substantial horsepower over several hours. Farmers use equipment for 20+ years, so even if electric combines were available tomorrow, it would take decades for farmers to switch over.

As the Democrats intentionally raise the price of fuel, it hits farmers the most, and food prices will have to follow the fuel price increases.

    Ironclaw in reply to OldProf2. | April 28, 2022 at 6:42 pm

Considering the repairability of new farming equipment, it’ll take a lot longer than that. I know quite a few who don’t plan to buy the newest, biggest and fanciest crap for that very reason. If they go down, you CANNOT repair them, you MUST have them hauled into a repair center where they have the requisite computer equipment to effect the repairs. Nah, give me the one you can fix with a wrench, a screwdriver and a jack..

    lurker9876 in reply to OldProf2. | April 29, 2022 at 9:30 am

Their response was to build more charging stations. After all, the Biden administration is trying to get something like 50 million dollars or something to pay for these new charging stations across the country….thinking that the Americans will flock to the EVs.

I just about gagged when seeing an advertisement from Ford on TV this week about its new electric Ford truck. I doubt that most Texans in the rural counties, especially in the west Texas, will replace their trucks with the electric trucks.

She is one stupid bitch!

Comanche Voter | April 28, 2022 at 5:49 pm

Geez lady! Stand in a puddle of water; wet both hands, and grab the red and the black wire on that charger. It will make hour hair stand on end!

Yeah but after the price of the E car it runs for free, right?

Looked up how long to charge a E car within the last week and Google will give you sites that say anywhere from 30 minutes to overnight. Watched someone charge their car at a office complex and assume it’s free charge all day and was their at 6:30 am long before office hours started.

Proves that politicians are not only morons – always doing the exact opposite of normal thinking – but they are also tone deaf to the reality of real life….because everything is handed to them. Bums and mooks.

Arminius in reply to Camperfixer. | April 29, 2022 at 12:04 am

But who are really the morons? Pelosi, or the people who keep voting for Pelosi.

I’ll shut up about this. I recall returning to Kali and seeing a TV piece that was about skyrocketing gasoline prices. A woman was fueling her tank and had a shocked look on her face. “What are they doing to us,” she cried out.

In my mind I asked, “What do you mean they? You voted for this.”

The last time I was in Zimbabwe on a hunting trip I stayed briefly in a guest house in Harare. Bored, I read one of the books in the library. I opened it and it had a ten trillion dollar note as a bookmark. Ten trillion Zimbabwean dollars. Which at the time wouldn’t get you a single sheet of toilet paper.

Arminius in reply to Arminius. | April 29, 2022 at 12:17 am

Thank you, you ****ing ****tards who gave us Joe Biden. Thank you very much. How did you know it was always my dream to have to use a wheel borrow loaded down with debased currency to buy a loaf of bread. Just like in the Weimar Republic.

      lurker9876 in reply to Arminius. | April 29, 2022 at 9:34 am

Ah…common sense. Every time I read about people blaming our politicians, I correct them that it’s really the responsibility of the voters to put the right people into the office. MOST voters are too ignorant enough to make bad choices in their candidates.

      Like…Mitch…Cornyn…Collins…Murkowski…Cassidy….and so on.

      lurker9876 in reply to Arminius. | April 29, 2022 at 9:36 am

Wheelbarrows of paper bills or burning them for heat?

Quick, how many Energy Secretaries does it take to plug in a car???

We remember this heifer all too well in Michigan.

Since she’s in the line of succession, she should not be eligible for the post she holds.

ThePrimordialOrderedPair | April 29, 2022 at 12:32 pm

She recently struggled with a charger at one of the charging stations that the Biden administration is touting as a solution to the gas price crisis.

Someone should have told her to lick it to see if it’s got charge.

These people are so stupid they think that propeller planes were powered by the wind.
