WSOC: Dodd Announces 2022 Schedule

The Huskies will open the season with six consecutive road matches

HOUSTON – HBU head women's soccer coach Chris Dodd announced the Huskies' 2022 schedule on Wednesday afternoon with his team set for a tough non-conference slate before heading into Southland Conference play.

"Our non-conference schedule is tough, as always, but they are all teams we are familiar with and we are looking forward to the challenge," said Dodd. "There are a couple of rematches from last year that we will look to be on the winning side of."

HBU opens the season with its first six games away from home, first with a Thursday, Aug. 18, matchup at UTSA in the season opener before heading on to Dallas, Texas to face SMU on Sunday, Aug. 21. The following weekend will see the Huskies head north for a Friday, Aug. 26, game in Denton against North Texas followed by a trip to take on Texas State in San Marcos on Sunday, Aug. 28.

The Huskies will be closer to home the next week, first traveling across town to face the Rice Owls on Thursday, Sep. 1, before making the familiar trip up I-45 to Huntsville for a Sunday, Sep. 4, matchup against Sam Houston.

The SLC schedule then starts with the Huskies' home opener on Friday, Sep. 9, against McNeese at 7:00 p.m. at Sorrels Field. Sunday, Sep. 11, brings the Houston Cougars to southwest Houston for the Huskies' lone home non-conference matchup at 7:00 p.m.

HBU will remain at home for the next two, hosting Nicholls and Northwestern State the following weekend before hitting the road the next week to take on Southeastern and Nicholls on Sep. 23 and Sep. 25. The Huskies then return home for a single match, hosting Southeastern on Sunday, Oct. 2.

After a Friday, Oct. 7, matchup in Corpus Christi against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, the Huskies will go to Natchitoches, La. on Friday, Oct. 14, to face Northwestern State before making their way to Commerce for the program's first ever meeting with Texas A&M-Commerce on Sunday, Oct. 16. HBU will then host the Islanders at Sorrels Field on Friday, Oct. 21, and then Senior Night will be on Wednesday, Oct. 26, against TAMUC. The regular season concludes with a Friday, Oct. 28, matchup in Lake Charles, La. against McNeese.

"Conference play is exciting because we will see each team home and away," added Dodd. "It's an interesting dynamic that brings new tactics into play. I have high expectations for us this fall and I like the way the schedule is laid out for us."

The 2022 SLC Tournament will take place from Nov. 2-6.
