SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Marshall senior MaryAnn Adebayo took home the hammer throw bronze Friday evening on the second day of competition at the 2022 Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The meet is being held at the Park West Athletics Complex in San Antonio.
Adebayo led four Thundering Herd throwers in the event with a heave of 56.39 meters on her fourth attempt. Rebecca Merritt placed fifth with a mark of 54.68 meters, while Brooke Burns was eighth (52.84) and Josie Moore took ninth (52.75).
Krista Perry finished fifth (4,605 points) in the heptathlon after she recorded a fourth-place finish in the long jump (5.58 meters) and fifth in the javelin (22.21 meters) and 800 meters (2:32.09), respectively.
With those two events complete, the Thundering Herd is tied with Rice for the team standings lead at 15 points apiece.
Saturday's field action gets underway at 2 p.m. ET/1 CT with the long jump, while the track events are set to begin with the 1500 meters at 6:45 ET/5:45 CT.
