Money magazine ranked West Texas A&M among the 10 best "value colleges" in Texas.

WT ranked No. 6 in Texas and No. 32 in the South, as well as No. 152 overall.

Money’s guide offers “a practical analysis” of more than 600 four-year colleges, according to its editors. To be considered, schools must have at least 500 undergraduate students; have sufficient, reliable data; not be in financial distress; and have a graduation rate at or above the median for its category.

Rice University (No. 17 overall), Texas A&M University–College Station (No. 27), and University of Texas–Austin (No. 35) were the highest-ranked universities in Texas.

Other Texas schools recognized in the rankings include the University of Texas at Dallas (No. 186), University of Houston (No. 207), University of Texas at Permian Basin (No. 237), Trinity University (No. 256) and Texas Tech University (No. 395).

“West Texas A&M University is honored to be recognized by Money for providing a distinctive value proposition for its students,” said Dr. Neil Terry, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs. “As we know, value in higher education is increasingly an essential consideration to students and their families.”

Money weighed 24 factors in the categories of quality of education, affordability and outcomes. More on its methodology can be seen here.
