The ECU baseball team is playing in a Super Regional for the third season in a row.

This one is different though, as they are hosting a Super Regional for the first time since 2001, that one was at Grainger Stadium in Kinston.

Head Coach Cliff Godwin was a senior player on that 2001 team.

ECU takes on Texas out of the Big XII Friday at noon, Saturday at noon and if necessary, Sunday.

"We've been playing playoff baseball for about two-and-a-half months," Godwin said.

The stadium is sold out for the Super Regional against the Longhorns and their head coach David Pierce.

Pierce is bringing the 'Horns to Greenville for the first time but in previous coaching stints at Houston, Rice and Tulane, he's familiar with Clark-LeClair Stadium.

The winner of the best-of-three series heads to Omaha for the College World Series, which would be a first for ECU's program.
