Alice is also envisioned to be employed for cargo shipments and for executive business travel.

 

In 2017, Airbus, Rolls-Royce, and Siemens teamed up to launch E-Fan X hybrid-electric flight demonstrator, aimed to be a major step ahead in hybrid-electric propulsion for commercial aircraft. As part of the E-Fan X programme, the three companies would contribute with their extensive experience and know-how in their respective domains of expertise. Airbus would oversee overall integration and control architecture of the hybrid-electric propulsion system and batteries, and its integration with flight controls. Rolls-Royce would be responsible for the turbo-shaft engine, two-megawatt generator, and power electronics. Siemens would deliver the two-megawatt electric motors and their power electronic control unit, along with inverter, DC/DC converter, and power distribution system.  Such efforts are expected to contribute to the growth of the global aviation high speed motor market.
